The Relaxation
13 April 2008After cleaning up the yard a few weeks back we realized we had a big bare spot in the back corner. After staring at it for about a week I realized “What better place for a hammock?!” I ended up ordering the Island Bay Executive XXL Rope Hammock from Hammocks.com. It was billed as being big enough to hold 2-3 people and rated their “most comfortable” rope hammock - and it was all that and more!
We spend a few minutes out there every chance we get. There’s a little bit of sunlight, a little bit of shade, and usually a few birds chirping. It’s comfortable for both of us to lay on it together, and I can envision laying on it one day as a family.
Unfortunatley, it’s not made for dogs… I think Alex was feeling a little left out.

I would love a hammock. What a nice idea. My mom has one and all of her grandchildren have rocked in it. I remember laying in it when Will and Max were babies. I loved it. I got to lay down, (I was really tired) and the babies quietly perched against me soothed by the rocking. Dismounting with two babies could be pretty awkward and entertaining for adults watching.

Dismounting by yourself is pretty awkward! We raised it up a few more inches so we weren’t “butt on the ground” trying to get out. How it feels while you’re in it definitely makes up for the enter/exit difficulties.

Border Collies are the best! We’ve gone back and forth … and back and forth over and over about getting another dog. It would be tough to not get another Border Collie because they are just so smart and he is so eager to please. But they have so much energy. It’s hard to keep him stimulated.
