Joining the 21st Century
12 April 2008When we were visiting Drew’s grandparents in Oklahoma we found out that they communicate with some of their kids and grandkids via regular webcam calls. I thought “What a great idea!”, so of course we started looking into it when we got home. I told my dad about it, and he ordered a new webcam the same day.
Well, the little guy arrived last night, and after some struggles I got it setup this morning. First call: Dad. We didn’t talk long because we were on our way out the door to picnic, but it really turned out to be a great idea. None of our family lives in the area, so having a means of ’seeing’ each other is just amazing. We had a full screen picture with pretty good resolution and it was nice to feel like we were together. We’re going to try to get our moms on-board too.
The only downside is that I know someone is going to video call me on one of those Sundays where a shower seems like too much work.

iChat video conferencing + relatives + holidays = you looking like an absolute freaking genius. It’s a good formula if you can swing it.
