My Broken Places
24 April 2008The whole IVF process can be quite overwhelming at times. My emotions can run high not just because of the hormones, but also because it’s a difficult journey. Sometimes I get resentful of Drew because he doesn’t understand what I’m going through. He’s very logical about the process. I don’t think any man can understand [...]
Monitoring Appt 1
21 April 20083 nights of stims and my first estradiol appt. this morning (Day 4). The nurse called and said my level was 99, and to keep up with the same doses of meds. I asked “Is 99 normal?” and she said “There is no normal. We look for the levels to rise.”
Next appt. is on Wednesday [...]

You’re Mocking Me
17 April 2008We had our baseline ultrasound and blood work done yesterday. I was expecting an easy day. We had to sign our consent forms, run the tests and make the final payment. Well, that part wasn’t easy. IVF isn’t covered by our insurance, so we are juggling credit cards to make it work.
After disrobing I noticed [...]
The Relaxation
13 April 2008After cleaning up the yard a few weeks back we realized we had a big bare spot in the back corner. After staring at it for about a week I realized “What better place for a hammock?!” I ended up ordering the Island Bay Executive XXL Rope Hammock from Hammocks.com. It was billed as being big enough to hold [...]
Joining the 21st Century
12 April 2008When we were visiting Drew’s grandparents in Oklahoma we found out that they communicate with some of their kids and grandkids via regular webcam calls. I thought “What a great idea!”, so of course we started looking into it when we got home. I told my dad about it, and he ordered a new webcam the same day.
Well, [...]
Stay Off the Grass
12 April 2008Drew planned a very nice picnic today out at a vineyard in Napa. He heard that the particular winery had a nice area to sit and eat lunch with lots of green grass where you could relax. So we headed out and got some yummy sandwiches at the Oakville Grocery and off we went. Upon [...]
So Far So Good
12 April 2008I’ve been taking the Lupron shots now for about 5 days, and today was the last birth control pill. I guess I’ve just been pretty lucky in that I haven’t seen any dramatic side effects. Some night sweats the first night and a little bit last night, but other then that I’ve been good. A [...]
The Get Pregnant Diet
8 April 2008Since we’ve been trying to have a baby I’ve been in pretty good shape, and I’ve been in really bad shape. I’m a yo-yo dieter for sure. Because I didn’t get pregnant while in either state, I’m not prone to believing that an extra 30 lbs will make a big difference one way or another. That’s my opinion [...]
One Down
8 April 2008One shot down – countless to go. It was quite uneventful really. I made sure I followed the proceedures – clean hands, clean environment, etc. My hand hestitated for a brief moment before I stuck myself, but any nervousness was all for naught. I didn’t feel a thing. Nothing. Nada. Piece of cake.
According to Drugs.com Lupron [...]
