Rollin’
20 September 2007I can breathe again.
Drew and I decided to take the house off the market for now. The value has gone down $100k this year and we’re not willing to lower our price that much. We’ll wait it out. Real estate goes up. It always does. It might take a few years but it will go back up eventually.
The house will be de-staged on Friday. Do you have any idea what it’s like living in a staged home for 7 months? Sucks. I’m getting my house back! I am a little sad to see some of it go though. I think we’ll be doing some shopping soon. The staging showed us some areas where we really need some accoutrements.
I’m finished with my job next week! It’s been a good ride, but the last 8 months have been chock full of indecision, instability and inefficiency.
I start a new job in less than a month! Great company, great opportunity. Enough said.
We’re going to Disneyland in a week and a half. Drew owned the project and did a great job planning every detail. I finally have the bandwidth to start getting excited. It’s long overdue. Time to feel like a kid again.
I’m going to see my mom. I miss my family. I really do. It’s tough being so far away, and none of us are getting any younger. I’m going to make more of an effort to see everyone.
I might see my friend Kelly when I’m in Washington. Haven’t seen her in about 10 years! Holy cow… We met knocking doors back in the day. She’s (generously) offered to drive up to Lake Chelan if she can make it work with her schedule. She lives outside of Seattle.
I’m working out again. We joined 24 Fitness. Drew has a gym on the way to work, and I’ll have one 1000 feet from my new office. The package came with 5 free training sessions which have proved so invaluable that I signed up for 5 more. Having someone to show you new exercises and check your form is essential to long term success. I’m not going to keep up with the personal training, but I’ll incorporate what I’ve learned into my own sessions.
Drew is finally 40! I say finally because he’s been gearing up for it for 3 months. He’s taking it like a pro. We haven’t been in different decades since we first met in 2001 and I was 29 to his 34. It’s a big day for him. We’re going to Ruth’s Chris for dinner which, by all accounts, is the best steak house ever. First visit for us, so it will be a nice treat.
For the first time in - I don’t even know how long - everything is starting to feel good again. I feel good. New job. We’re staying in the house. Great vacations coming. Problems that arise are starting to roll off me again rather than winding me up. All the problems of the last year are coming to resolution. Maybe not the resolution we wanted, but at this point it’s the resolution we need.

Yep, life has it’s ups and downs and we can’t always tell if you are on an up or a down. I had wondered if you guys were still living in a staged house. Glad to have you still in the same state.

Thanks… It’s only been 3 days, but it feels so much better not to feel like we’re tiptoeing around someone else’s stuff. It was hard to let go of the dream, but it is a relief to have resolution - one way or another.
