Plan B
8 July 2007We’re flying back out to Colorado in two weeks to sign up for another lot. I’m not looking forward to the trip. It’ll cost close to 2k by the time we pay for airfare, car rental, hotel and food. We’ve sunk about 15k into this venture already between the down payment, staging and preperation costs, and trips out for various meetings. The house has been on the market for 4.5 months and there has been no movement.
If everything goes as planned, the new house will be ready in January. That gives us another 7 months to sell. Before we listed I could not imagine a scenario where we were on the market close to a year, but that’s what real estate in this county has come to. It is a very real possibility that we will not sell the house by January.
For the time being we’ve got a sizable investment in this project and we’re going to ride it out until we sell or until we lose our deposit in January - whichever comes first. If we can’t sell we’re going to change gears. The house is coming off the market, and we’re going to go forward with IVF. We can’t put it off forever. I’m 35 and Drew will be 40 in a few months. It’s time that we take some control back.
