Trick and Treat
31 October 2006Doorbells and dogs are not a good combination.
We recently started training Alex to do a Down/Stay when the doorbell rang rather then barking, running frantically to the door and jumping on guests. Since we don’t get that many visitors it was a slow process. In fact, we’d probably worked on it about three times until tonight.
Halloween presented the perfect opportunity to fine tune his bag-o-tricks. When the first bell chimed Drew had to physically restrain Alex from plunging the down the stairs into the crowd of unsuspecting ghosts and goblins. By about the 20th ring Alex laid down automatically and actually appeared relaxed about the process. He’s a good boy.
